GTAP (Global Trade Analysis Project): is a global network of researchers and policy makers conducting quantitative analysis of international policy issues. GTAP’s goal is to improve the quality of quantitative analysis of global economic issues within an economy-wide framework.
GreenDelta/ Open LCA: openLCA is a free, professional Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) software with a broad range of features and available databases developed by GreenDelta in 2006. A version of the SHDB can be easily imported into openLCA, which allows for the viewing and integration of the SHDB into life cycle models. A broad range of analysis tools support users in identifying the most important indicators, sectors, and regions. More information about the SHDB in openLCA is available here.
New Earth has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Trade Centre (ITC), the joint technical agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. ITC’s program entitled “Trade for Sustainable Development” (T4SD) has developed a global database of voluntary standards. This “Standards Map” centralizes and organizes comparable information on sustainability standards and related research with the purpose of enhancing access to information on sustainability initiatives across sectors and countries. New Earth and ITC have agreed to develop a framework for cooperation and exchange of information between the Social Hotspots Database and the T4SD Standards Map database. Users of either platform will be able to swiftly connect to the SHDB Web Portal from Standards Map, and vice versa, thus creating detailed and concrete analyses combining both standards information and the social risks data sets.
For the Social Hotspot Database team at New Earth, this partnership affords the opportunity to blend our social responsibility expertise with an international and experienced team, integrating our analysis capabilities with Quantis’ tools, data, and proficiency in environmental LCA. New Earth has recently released its Social Hotspots Database via an online portal and for use in LCA software, enabling all interested organizations to implement Social Life Cycle Assessment.
